Naval Utility Helicopters Procurement, Maritime Search and Rescue Operations, Indian Defence Manufacturing Initiatives

BREAKING: Request for Information (RFI) for Naval Utility Helicopters

The Indian Ministry of Defence has officially released a Request for Information (RFI) to procure 76 Naval Utility Helicopters. This significant procurement aims to enhance maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) and utility capabilities. Specifically, the plan includes 51 helicopters for the Indian Navy (IN) and 25 for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).

Enhancing Maritime Capabilities

These helicopters will play a critical role in various operations, including Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions and Low Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO). The initiative falls under the Buy & Make (Indian) category, encouraging domestic production and innovation in defense manufacturing. This is a crucial step towards strengthening India’s maritime defense and operational readiness.

The Need for Modernization

As maritime challenges evolve, the Indian Navy and Coast Guard require advanced technology to ensure effective operations. The procurement of these helicopters will not only bolster the capabilities of the IN and ICG but will also support the government’s Make in India initiative, promoting local manufacturing and technological advancements in defense systems.

Opportunities for Manufacturers

This RFI opens doors for both domestic and international manufacturers interested in contributing to India’s defense sector. Companies capable of delivering advanced helicopter technology and support services are encouraged to participate in this initiative.
