Obituary and Cause of death news:
Tribute to a Postponed Animation Project’s Legacy
I Was a Storyboard Artist and Cleanup Animator
I was a storyboard artist and cleanup animator for a now-canceled project aimed at continuing “Okko” as a fan series on YouTube. After months of planning, we created numerous storyboards and a few animations, but the project ultimately halted due to difficulties in finding voice actors. This disappointing pause left fans and creators alike heartbroken. While the project is no longer active, the storyboards and animations showcase the creative vision we had for the continuation of “Okko.” Explore the artistic journey and insights into fan-driven animation projects in our dedicated YouTube channel and community.

I was a storyboard artist and cleanup animator for a now (dead)? Postponed project to continue okko as a fan series on YouTube
Hey there! So, I want to share my experience as a storyboard artist and cleanup animator for a project that sadly got shelved. It was meant to be a fan series continuing the adventures of Okko, and I was super excited about it. After diving deep into storyboarding and crafting a few animations, we hit a major roadblock: we just couldn’t find any voice actors (VAs) to bring our characters to life. After months of planning and hard work, it was a tough pill to swallow when everything came to a halt.

I have a bunch of storyboards + a few animations from the project
One of the things I loved about working on this project was creating the storyboards. Storyboarding is like laying down the blueprint of the animation, and I had a blast sketching out scenes that would have captured the essence of Okko. I have a bunch of storyboards that I’m really proud of, and I think they would resonate with fans of the series. Along with those, I managed to animate a few sequences that showcased the style we were aiming for. It was a labor of love, and having the chance to work on something I’m passionate about was truly enriching. We just couldn’t find VAs so the whole thing halted after months of planning
It’s wild how finding the right voice actors can make or break a project. We put out calls, reached out to friends, and even scoured social media, but it seemed like fate was against us. The voice of a character can really bring the animation to life, and without the right voices, everything felt incomplete. It was frustrating because we had invested so much time and energy into planning this series. It felt like we were on the brink of something great, only to hit a wall. The journey was bittersweet, to say the least. You can find more on how important casting is in animation on [The Animation Guild](https://animationguild.org).

So here we are, with a project that’s now in limbo. It’s like mourning the loss of something that never fully came to be. I still look back at the storyboards and animations I created and feel a mixture of pride and sadness. While it’s disappointing that we couldn’t bring our vision to fruition, I’m holding onto the hope that one day I can revive those ideas in some form. Maybe I’ll share some of the storyboards on my YouTube channel for fans who’ve been waiting for more Okko content. Who knows what the future holds? So, that’s my story about being a storyboard artist and cleanup animator for a now-postponed Okko fan series. It’s been a journey filled with creativity and challenges, and while it didn’t end how I hoped, I’m excited about what’s next. Stay tuned for more updates, and thanks for taking the time to read my experience!
