Alleged Commercial Vehicle crash on I-90 in Rotterdam, NY
On November 5, 2024, reports surfaced of a serious commercial vehicle crash on I-90 in Rotterdam, NY. According to the New York State police, Troopers from Troop T and Troop G responded to a double-tractor trailer accident just after 10 p.m. The investigation revealed that both trucks were heading westbound when one, driven by a Canadian national, allegedly collided with the rear of the other vehicle. Tragically, the Canadian driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle has been identified as Manuel E. Aristyarias, a 59-year-old resident of Passaic, NJ. He cooperated with law enforcement during the investigation and was taken to SP Latham for further questioning. Following a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation, a blood sample was allegedly collected from Aristyarias to test for drugs. Subsequently, he was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and received an appearance ticket for the Rotterdam Town Court, scheduled for December 2, 2024.

As a result of the crash, I-90 westbound was closed between exits 25 and 26 for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. The road was reopened around 5:45 a.m. on November 6, 2024. The investigation is ongoing, and the name of the deceased driver has not been released pending family notification.
