Remembering Officer Evan Dunn: A Life Cut Short

GOLDEN, Colo. — In a heartfelt social media post, the City of Golden paid tribute to Officer Evan Dunn, who tragically lost his life in a collision allegedly caused by a suspected drunk driver on Wednesday night.
Officer Dunn, just 33 years old, was involved in a serious accident on Highway 58 shortly after 5 p.m. that day. The crash injured three others, including Officer Bethany Grusing, his field training officer. Following the incident, Stephen Geer, 43, was arrested in connection with the event.
Before joining the Golden Police Department, Dunn served as a code enforcement officer for the Greeley Police Department and graduated from the Golden Police Academy just a few months ago. He was also a proud Army aviation officer and a Blackhawk pilot, showcasing a commitment to service that extended beyond his law enforcement career.
Survived by his wife, Annalise, and their beloved dog Remy, Dunn was remembered as a devoted family man and a loyal friend. His wife described him as “a man of faith, loyal, steady, quiet, and observant,” reflecting the deep bond they shared during their many adventures camping and traveling together.

Golden Police Chief Joe Harvey expressed the profound impact of Dunn’s passing on the close-knit police family of 71. “Evan had a bright future and was destined to do great things,” he said, emphasizing the collective grief and loss felt by the department.
