Tyka Nelson, Sister of Prince, Allegedly Passes Away
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — It’s being reported that Tyka Nelson, the only full sibling of pop music icon Prince, has died at the age of 64. According to various sources, she passed away on Monday at North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Her son, President Nelson, mentioned that the cause of death won’t be known for a few days, which leaves many family and fans in suspense.
Tyka Nelson was not just known as Prince’s sister; she was also a musician in her own right. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that she released four albums between 1988 and 2011. Just this past June, she was set to perform a farewell concert but had to pull out due to health issues. In her own words, she expressed, “I really wasn’t a singer. I’m a writer. I just happen to be able to sing. I enjoy singing.”
