Robert A. Peideia, a beloved figure from Portsmouth, Rhode Island, reportedly passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 27, 1946, in Fall River, MA, Bob was a dedicated family man, proud veteran, and accomplished engineer. His journey began in Middletown, where he graduated high school in 1965 before pursuing engineering studies at URI and UMass Dartmouth, culminating in a degree from Johnson and Wales University.
A standout moment in Bob’s life was meeting his soulmate, Christine, at the Portsmouth Roller Rink. Their love story began there, leading to a joyful marriage in 1973 that lasted over 51 years, filled with laughter and countless kitchen dance parties. Throughout his 36-year career as a Senior Engineer at General Dynamics Electric Boat, Bob’s contributions were recognized with multiple awards, highlighting his commitment and expertise.
