On Saturday, the Crystal Lake community lost a true gem with the passing of Rosemary Blazier, affectionately known as “Mrs. Crystal Lake,” at the age of 96. Her life was a tapestry woven with kindness, philanthropy, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting those around her. Alongside her husband, Bob Blazier, Rosemary was instrumental in establishing numerous local organizations, including the Raue Center for the Arts Foundation and the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Rosemary was more than just a figurehead; she was a former physical education teacher and counselor in District 47, where she dedicated 35 years of her life to educating and inspiring students. Her contributions didn’t stop there—she was a founding member of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in Illinois, showcasing her dedication to community health and well-being.
Her vibrant personality shone through in her many roles—from an avid golfer and bridge player to an active member of the St. Thomas Choir and Women’s Club. Rosemary’s influence extended throughout Crystal Lake, where she was known for her charm and humor, always lifting spirits wherever she went.
Bob, now 98, remembers her as his rock, stating, “A lot of things I did, Rosemary helped with by coming and supporting me.” Their 75 years of marriage were marked by mutual respect and a shared passion for community service, making them a dynamic duo in every sense.
As the Raue Center for the Arts aptly stated, “Always in our hearts, Rosemary.” Her legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations in Crystal Lake.
