Allegations of a Fatal crash in Monterey County
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. — Reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) allege that a head-on collision resulted in the tragic death of a driver on Monday. This incident occurred around 2:07 p.m. on Monte Road, just north of Neponset Road. According to the CHP, a red pickup truck collided with a white international pickup truck in what witnesses claim was a harrowing scene.
As per the CHP’s account, the red pickup was traveling north when it veered into the southbound lane, crashing head-on into the white pickup truck. The impact was severe, sending the red pickup crashing into the guardrail before it fell onto its roof into the Salinas River. Eyewitnesses described the chaotic aftermath, with the truck tumbling off the bridge in a frightening turn of events.

Authorities have identified the driver of the red pickup as 32-year-old Matthew Giles from Lockwood. Sadly, CHP confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries from the crash.
