Harold Eugene Massey Jr. was a remarkable soul who touched the lives of many during his time on earth. Born on October 11, 1961, in Newport Rhode Island, Harold led a life full of adventure and purpose. His journey took him from the shores of Newport to the bustling streets of Boston, and finally to the serene town of Augusta, Maine, where he found solace in gardening and serving veterans at the Togus Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center.
Harold’s story is one of resilience and passion. After serving in the United States Army as a Supply Specialist in Frankfurt, Germany, he returned to civilian life with a newfound faith in Jesus Christ. Over the years, he wore many hats – from Warehouse Specialist to Home Improvement Contractor – showcasing his versatility and determination to excel in everything he did.

But it was in his role as a gardener at the Togus VA Medical Center that Harold found true fulfillment. It was here that Harold found his calling and a sense of purpose that brought him joy and peace.
Aside from his work, Harold enjoyed spending his free time fishing, gardening, and painting. His love for cars, especially Lincoln Continentals, was evident in his collection of four of them. His family, including his life partner Ms. Holly Luber, son Adrian, daughter Rayel, and five grandchildren, will forever cherish the memories they shared with Harold.
