Born on February 28, 1968, Lagbaja assumed the role of Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, bringing with him a wealth of experience from various leadership positions in critical security operations. His contributions to operations such as Operation ZAKI in Benue, Lafiya Dole in Borno, and Forest Sanity across Kaduna and Niger States have been noteworthy. He was a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Army War College, earning a Master’s in Strategic Studies, which highlighted his strategic insight and commitment to Nigeria’s national security.
