Reports indicate that Daniel, the grandson of former Metchosin mayor John Ranns, was involved in a head-on collision while looking to purchase a fifth-wheel trailer in the Lake Cowichan area. His family, who relocated from South Carolina to Vancouver Island four years ago, is now grappling with the loss of a vibrant young man.

Witnesses claim that a compact pickup truck drifted into oncoming traffic, striking Daniel’s vehicle head-on. Despite immediate response efforts from emergency crews, Daniel was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a community in mourning.
