Tragic Incident on Highway 18 Claims Life of Teenager

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP responded to the crash at approximately 2:22 p.m. Witnesses claim that a compact pickup truck drifted into the eastbound lane, colliding with a one-tonne pickup. The driver of the smaller truck was trapped inside, and despite the heroic efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the other driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Authorities closed the highway to facilitate the emergency response, and they are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
