Man shot and killed by Officers in South Phoenix: What Happened?

PHOENIX – A significant incident unfolded on the night of November 4 when an armed man was allegedly shot and killed by police officers after a brief pursuit in south Phoenix. According to reports from Phoenix Police, the situation started around 10 p.m. when officers responded to a distress call about a home invasion at 15th Avenue and Chipman Road.

The caller informed 911 that a man was allegedly forcing his way into their home while armed with a handgun. Upon arriving at the scene, officers noticed a pickup truck leaving the area that may have contained the suspect. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, leading officers on a short chase before crashing into a wall near 15th and Wier Avenues.

After the crash, the driver exited the truck with a gun in his hand, prompting officers to issue commands for him to stop and drop the weapon. Instead of complying, he allegedly ran toward a nearby residential home and raised his gun at the officers, who then fired their weapons in response.

The suspect, reported to be in his early 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Thankfully, no officers were injured during the incident. Authorities recovered two handguns from the suspect and a rifle from inside the truck. Investigators are still processing the crime scene, and the investigation remains ongoing as they piece together the details of this alarming event.
