Remembering Reddy Satyanarayana: A Legacy of Service
Reddy Satyanarayana, a former Minister and five-time MLA, passed away on November 5th at his native village, Pedagogada, in Anakapalle district. At 99 years old, he was a beloved figure in his community, affectionately known as ‘Satyam mastaru’ by his constituents.

His political journey began in 1983 when he was elected as an independent candidate. Shortly after, he joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1984. Over the next two decades, Satyanarayana won the hearts of many, serving five consecutive terms in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly until 2004. His contributions as the Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries during NTR’s regime were particularly noteworthy.
What set Satyanarayana apart was his down-to-earth nature. Even while holding the ministerial position, he opted for RTC buses for his travels, embodying the spirit of simplicity. His dedication to public service extended beyond politics; he was also a member of the TTD Board, contributing to the development of religious and cultural initiatives.
Tributes poured in following his passing. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow, highlighting Satyanarayana’s significant contributions to the Madugula constituency. Anakapalle MP C.M. Ramesh also shared his condolences, reflecting on Satyanarayana’s relentless efforts for community development.
