Alleged Tragedy: Higganum Boy’s Kayaking Accident Raises Concerns
Jaxon Podbielski, a young boy from Higganum, fell into the water while kayaking with an adult around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 26. According to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), it’s still a mystery how long he was submerged before rescuers managed to pull him out. The situation turned dire when reports indicated that Jaxon suffered pediatric cardiac arrest upon being rescued.
Initial efforts by Haddam paramedics included a trip to Middlesex Hospital, but as his condition worsened, he was airlifted to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. Tragically, Jaxon’s health did not improve, and he passed away on Wednesday, October 30. This has left the community in shock and mourning.
