Among the injured, six individuals were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where they are reported to be in stable condition. Sofia Alcala, who works in the area, recounted that she heard the gunshots and witnessed people “freaking out” and running for safety.
In response to the violence, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer announced a local state of emergency that halts alcohol sales in downtown establishments and imposes a curfew from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. He expressed a need for a safe, vibrant atmosphere in the city but acknowledged the recent surge in violent incidents.
