Alleged Fatal crash on Route 27 Claims Life of Young Woman
Late Halloween night, a serious crash on Route 27 in Roselle has left the community in mourning. As reported by police, the incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. at the intersection of St. George and Chandler avenues. A 2012 Chevrolet Equinox allegedly struck a curb, veered through a fence, and continued its chaotic journey until it came to a stop in a nearby Wawa parking lot.
The victim, identified as 19-year-old Jayla Pryor from Linden, was a passenger in the vehicle. Her brother, 27-year-old Joshua Pryor, was driving and fortunately only sustained minor injuries. This family tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw to express his condolences to the grieving family.

The crash led to the closure of Route 27 in both directions for several hours, causing significant disruption until it reopened around 9 a.m. the following day. Even the Wawa parking lot and gas pumps were temporarily shut down as the investigation unfolded.
