Scottish Comedian Janey Godley Allegedly Passes Away at 63

Scottish comedian Janey Godley has allegedly passed away at the age of 63. The news was shared by Chris Davis Management, who expressed that she would be “hugely missed by her family, friends, and her many fans.” The announcement was also confirmed on her X account, where her family mentioned that the “love and support” from her followers provided great comfort during her battle with cancer.

In a heartfelt post, they shared, “Earlier this morning Janey passed away in her sleep. Her family were with her. The love and support from all her friends and fans during this cancer journey brought her enormous joy.” Godley gained fame for her comedic talents, and she became a viral sensation with her hilarious voiceovers of Nicola Sturgeon’s COVID-19 briefings.

Janey’s daughter, BBC Radio Scotland presenter Ashley Storrie, shared a touching video expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support her mother received. “I believe in my heart of hearts that she felt every bit of love you sent to her, and I think it kept her going,” Storrie said.

Godley was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2021 but was declared cancer-free in 2022. Unfortunately, a later scan revealed signs of the disease returning. Despite her health struggles, Janey continued her Not Dead Yet tour and even received an honorary degree from the University of Glasgow shortly before her passing.

Chris Davis Management released a statement on November 2, confirming her death in the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow, surrounded by her loved ones. Janey Godley will be remembered not only for her comedic brilliance but also for the warmth and joy she brought to countless fans.
