VILLAGE OF OAKDALE, Wis. (WEAU) – One person is dead after a crash involving a construction worker near the Village of Oakdale on Friday evening.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle was traveling in a construction zone on Interstate 90 when it hit the back of a semi. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Isaac Morales Jr., then lost control of the vehicle and hit a road surface machine. The construction worker driving the road surface machine, identified as 35-year-old Andrew Skupniewitz died at the scene.
The interstate was closed for around 6 hours, allowing the scene to be investigated and the removal of the vehicles allowed. Alcohol and speed are believed to have contributed to the crash.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
