Family Grieves After Alleged Discovery of Vincent J. Zimmer in Cuyahoga River
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A family is in mourning after the alleged discovery of their beloved son and brother, Vincent J. Zimmer, in the Cuyahoga River near the Carter Road Lift Bridge. The 33-year-old was reported missing over a week ago by his mother, Cathy Zimmer, leading to a desperate search that has now taken a heartbreaking turn.
According to Cleveland police, Vincent’s body was found just after 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, following a tip from a city worker who spotted him while walking along the bridge. Sergeant Freddy Diaz from the Cleveland Division of Police shared that the response teams worked together to recover the body from the river.

Vincent lived in Avon Lake and hadn’t been seen or heard from since October 21. His mother mentioned in the police report that he had recently received a significant inheritance of $60,000 following his father’s passing. Just a day before he went missing, Vincent withdrew $5,000 from his bank account, raising concerns among his family.
The last known contact Vincent had was with his girlfriend, who resides in Cleveland. The police conducted a welfare check at her residence but did not find him. A social media tip suggested that Vincent and his girlfriend might have been staying at her mother’s house, but when officers checked, no one answered the door.
As the investigation continues, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death. Sergeant Diaz stated they are currently on standby, awaiting further information. This tragic situation has left many unanswered questions and has deeply affected the community.
