Alleged Wrong-Way crash Claims Five Lives in Fort Worth

This past weekend, a family of four was tragically killed in an alleged wrong-way crash in Fort Worth, leaving neighbors and friends grappling with the loss. According to a report by NBC 5, a neighbor named Perry Scott reminisced about the family, describing how they were always outside decorating for Halloween and enjoying life.

“They used to be out here every day when I would get home from work. The momma, the daddy, and the two kids would be out here doing their decorations,” Scott shared. Sadly, this vibrant family lost their lives early Sunday morning in a crash on westbound Loop 820, just before the Azle Avenue Exit.

Authorities reported that the family’s silver Ford Focus was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided with another vehicle. The victims have been identified as 28-year-old Daniel Newsome and 29-year-old Johanna Newsome, though the names of their children have not yet been released. The crash claimed the lives of five people in total, including 33-year-old Chelsea Cook, who was in the other vehicle.

Scott, who had only known the family for about six months, expressed his disbelief at the tragedy. “I always saw the kids out there playing, and I would always speak to them. They were good people,” he said. The community is mourning a significant loss, especially as Halloween approaches—a time the Newsome children were eagerly anticipating.

As the investigation continues, questions linger about how this devastating incident occurred. Detectives speculate that the family might have entered Loop 820 from Azle Avenue, but details remain unclear. The sudden loss has left a deep impact, not just on Scott but on the entire neighborhood. Everyone is looking for answers and trying to remember the bright moments shared with this beloved family.
