The Lecompte police Department responded to a shooting call about 1 a.m. on Thursday, finding a victim who was not responsive. He was identified as James Barfield, 34, also of Lecompte.

Sheriff’s detectives and crime scene personnel were called to the scene. Detectives found that the two men had been arguing “when allegedly Bowie brandished a firearm and began firing multiple shots at Barfield, striking him and causing fatal injuries.”
Bowie also allegedly fired at witnesses before leaving, reads the release.
