Alleged Fatal crash in Richardson Shocks Community
According to reports, a devastating crash on North Central Expressway in Richardson has left three people dead and several others injured. This tragic incident took place just before midnight near Renner Road on southbound U.S. 75, causing significant traffic disruptions during the Friday morning rush hour.
As investigators piece together the details, it appears that six family members were standing outside their stalled Cadillac SUV in the HOV lane when a Lexus SUV collided with them. Sadly, 19-year-old Alyia Khalid was killed in the crash. The driver of the Lexus, 27-year-old Haley Taylor, also succumbed to her injuries along with her 6-year-old daughter. The crash reportedly involved at least seven vehicles, including an 18-wheeler, and left at least 11 people with varying degrees of injuries.

Family members shared heartwarming tributes to Alyia, describing her as a vibrant spirit who always spread kindness and laughter. Her brother, Hamzah Khalid, revealed they were visiting Dallas from Nashville for a relative’s wedding, and the family had been participating in a traditional Muslim sleepover ceremony when the accident occurred. “It was supposed to be a weekend of celebration,” he mentioned, reflecting on the joy that turned into sorrow.
Hamzah also expressed concerns for his other sister, who’s battling serious injuries and facing surgery. The community has rallied around the family, with a GoFundMe page highlighting Alyia’s aspirations of becoming a physician and her dedication to helping others. As the investigation continues, the Richardson community remains in mourning, grappling with the impact of this heartbreaking event.
