The car was carrying participants of a marriage procession (janti) from Rautahat towards Sarlahi. The incident involving a Scorpio car with Indian registration number HR 70 D 8382 occurred around 9:00 AM and resulted in the deaths of Kal Bahadur Shrestha (55) from Kathmandu and Sweta Pandey (7) from Sundarpur, Chakraghatta Rural Municipality-3, Sarlahi. Efforts are underway to locate the absconding driver, as per Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alija Giri, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Rautahat.

The deceased were part of the marriage procession travelling from Rautahat to Sarlahi.
