Tyus James Terrell, 27, of Fredericksburg, was arrested in Woodbridge for a November 2023 homicide in Triangle, Virginia. The suspect, identified by police the day after the incident, was found in the area of Dale Blvd and Neabsco Mills Rd. The victim, Quatrail Raynard Smalls, 26, was shot and later died in the hospital. Police believe the shooting resulted from a prior altercation between the victim and suspect. The Arrest of Tyus James Terrell in Triangle, VA

A man wanted for a November 2023 homicide in Triangle was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service on Wednesday, according to the Prince William County Police. Tyus James Terrell, 27, of Fredericksburg, was taken into custody in the area of Dale Blvd and Neabsco Mills Rd in Woodbridge. Police had identified Terrell as the suspect the day after the homicide and had offered an increased award of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.

The Tragic Incident

The homicide took place on Nov. 14, 2023, in the 3700 block of Wharf Lane in Triangle. Police responded to reports of gunshots and found a 26-year-old man, identified as Quatrail Raynard Smalls from Big Stone Gap, Virginia, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The Investigation

Authorities believe that the shooting was a result of an altercation between the victim and the suspect, who were known to each other. After identifying Terrell as the suspect on Nov. 15, 2023, police obtained warrants for his arrest. Despite conducting multiple search warrants in Spotsylvania County with the assistance of the local sheriff’s office, Terrell remained elusive.

Legal Consequences

Tyus James Terrell has been charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently being held without bond, and a court date is pending.
