It was a tragic day on the roads of Iowa as the Iowa State Patrol responded to three fatal crashes that occurred in different locations across the state on Tuesday. Wayne County Crash
In Wayne County, a crash took the lives of two individuals and left one person injured on Tuesday morning around 7:30 a.m. The Iowa State Patrol reported that a pickup truck traveling east on Highway 2 at County Highway S40 crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car. Tragically, the driver and passenger in the car, identified as Larry McDanel, 84, and Linda McDanel, 70, both of Exline, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines for treatment.

Carroll County Crash
Another fatal crash occurred in Carroll County, just north of Carroll, on Tuesday afternoon around 1:50 p.m. Officials responded to the intersection of Noble Avenue and 150th Street where a semi-tractor failed to stop at a stop sign while driving north on Noble Avenue. A pickup truck traveling east on 150th Street collided with the driver’s side of the semi-tractor. Sadly, the pickup driver, 65-year-old Ronald Eischeid of Carroll, lost his life in the collision. The driver of the semi-tractor escaped uninjured.
Black Hawk County Crash
Later in the day, a fatal crash occurred in Black Hawk County around 3:50 p.m. A pickup truck traveling east on Tama Road failed to yield to an oncoming semi-truck, resulting in a collision. The impact caused the semi-truck to lose control, tip onto its side, and enter the west ditch. Tragically, the 37-year-old semi-truck driver lost his life in the crash. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
These three fatal crashes serve as a sobering reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and following traffic laws to prevent such tragedies.
