The body was discovered by visitors to the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens on April 26, with no initial identifying marks. The MCSO explained that the woman’s physical characteristics matched those of a missing person who had been reported to the Fort Bragg Police Department on April 14. Familial DNA samples were obtained from the missing person’s family and sent to the Department of Justice DNA Lab in Richmond, Calif., for comparison. It was confirmed on July 3 that the DNA sample from the coroner’s investigation was a familial match to the missing person reported to the FBPD.
