VALDOSTA – A Valdosta man’s arrest warrant for reckless driving leads to a separate arrest of a Valdosta woman for narcotics.

On a sunny Friday afternoon in Valdosta, Georgia, specifically on the bustling Herbert Street, Valdosta Police Officers conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle for reckless driving. The driver, later identified as Darrell Rochester, a 20-year-old African American male resident of Valdosta, made a daring escape from the car, leaving officers in pursuit. Despite their efforts, Rochester managed to evade capture at that time.

Fast forward to July 2, 2024, and officers had obtained arrest warrants for Rochester for reckless driving and two counts of misdemeanor obstruction of an officer. The Valdosta Police Department’s Power Squad, K9 Unit, and Narcotics Detectives mobilized to Rochester’s residence to execute the warrants. It was there that a surprising turn of events unfolded.
Upon reaching the residence, Isabel Hunter, a 19-year-old Caucasian female and Valdosta resident, greeted the officers at the door. Detectives were immediately met with the strong smell of marijuana emanating from within the premises, prompting further investigation.
A search warrant was swiftly secured, and during the search, detectives uncovered a substantial stash of over 311 grams of marijuana, along with paraphernalia and cash typically associated with drug trafficking activities.
Isabel Hunter was promptly arrested on the spot and taken to the Lowndes County Jail. She now faces charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, a felony, and possession of drug-related items, a misdemeanor.
Meanwhile, Darrell Rochester was apprehended at his workplace without incident. Like Hunter, he was transported to the Lowndes County Jail, this time on the active arrest warrants stemming from the traffic stop, in addition to charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of drug-related items.
