A SWAT team arrested two Lake County residents after federal authorities discovered drugs were being mailed to Round Lake and a significant amount of narcotics was recovered. Akeem S. Shofidiya, 39, of Lake Villa, with a history of weapons and drug trafficking, was seen retrieving a suspicious package destined for a residence in Round Lake. Drugs including fentanyl, cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy pills, and methamphetamine were found in the home, along with a ghost handgun and cash. Mykal P. Wade, 35, of Round Lake, was also charged. Both defendants were detained pending trial by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Following the interception of a suspicious parcel at a shipping facility in Illinois, the LCMEG swiftly executed a search warrant at the Round Lake residence with the assistance of the Illinois State Police’s SWAT team.
