Four suspects have been arrested in Delta over a murder case. The Kwara State Police Command apprehended a suspected ritualist in Ilorin following a distress call of an attempted culpable homicide. The incident involved a 10-year-old boy who was lured into a room and nearly killed by a 46-year-old suspect. Thanks to vigilant community members, the suspect was caught and the case has been transferred for further investigation. Similarly, a gang of kidnappers in Ughelli, Delta State, was busted after kidnapping and killing a male resident. One suspect was shot dead, while three others are in custody with AK-47 rifles recovered. Ongoing investigation is taking place to bring justice to the victims.

Arrest of Four Suspects in Delta Over Murder

In a recent development, the Delta State Police Command has successfully apprehended four suspects involved in a heinous crime of kidnapping and murder in the Ughelli axis of the state. This operation comes after months of intensive investigation and surveillance to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The incident in question took place in the Adjakota area of Ughelli South LGA, where a male resident, whose identity has been withheld, was kidnapped on 17th May 2024. Tragically, the victim was later found murdered by the kidnappers, sparking outrage in the community.

Swift Police Action

Thanks to the diligent work of the police operatives led by ASP Julius Robinson, a breakthrough was achieved on 1st July 2024. One of the key suspects, Ismaila Umaru, aged 28 and hailing from Kekura Village in Awe LGA of Nasarawa State, was apprehended in Oghara town, Delta State.

Arrest of Additional Gang Members

Following Umaru’s arrest, two more gang members, Chede Mohammed and Mohammadu Sani, were also captured. Mohammed, 18 years old, is a native of Nasarawa State living in Ughelli South LGA, while Sani, aged 26, hails from Banbiru area of Abuja but resides in Ughelli North.

Encounter in the Bush

During a subsequent operation in the Oviri-ogor bush, the police encountered resistance from other gang members. In the exchange of gunfire, one suspect sustained critical injuries and later succumbed while receiving medical treatment. The authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle from the hideout, further implicating the gang in criminal activities.
