In a recent incident that took place in Monroe, police officers made a significant arrest after checking on a vehicle suspected to be involved in drug trafficking. The incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on July 4 when Monroe police received a report of a person sitting in a vehicle near East Front Street close to Interstate 75. The report suggested that the individual may have been delivering narcotics, prompting the police to investigate further.

Arrest and Seizures

Upon arriving at the scene, officers approached the suspect, who quickly exited the vehicle in an attempt to distance himself from it. The suspect, a 37-year-old man from Belleville with ties to the Monroe area, was identified and found to have outstanding warrants. Following a brief investigation, the man was arrested by the police.

Monroe police reported seizing crack cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl from a suspected drug dealer on July 4.

During the investigation, officers observed signs of narcotics use and proceeded to search the vehicle. The search yielded a significant amount of illegal substances, including 7.5 grams of crack cocaine, 5.1 grams of methamphetamine, 46 hand-pressed fentanyl pills, 1 gram of an unknown white powder, and 286 grams of a non-narcotic white powdery substance. Additionally, a small digital scale and two loaded .38-caliber revolvers were also found in the vehicle.

Legal Action

The police are seeking charges of possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, carrying concealed weapons, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Following the arrest, the suspect was transported to the Monroe County Jail, and the case was handed over to the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings.

In a statement, the Monroe Public Safety Department expressed gratitude towards the officers involved in the operation, commending them for their efforts in removing dangerous drugs and weapons from the streets.
