Arrest Made and Suspects Sought After Robbery at Oakville Place Mall

The Halton Police have taken swift action following a robbery at Oakville Place Mall, resulting in one arrest and a search for two additional suspects. The incident took place at the WOW Mobile Cellphone kiosk within the mall around 6:00 PM, where three masked individuals carried out a knife-point robbery.

Details of the Incident

Security guards at the mall managed to apprehend one suspect on the spot, who was subsequently arrested by the police. Unfortunately, during the apprehension, the suspect assaulted a security guard, causing a minor injury. The other two suspects fled the scene in a white Honda Civic, taking a small quantity of cell phones with them.

Arrest and Charges

The individual who was arrested has been identified as 19-year-old Matthew Garcia from North York. Garcia now faces charges of robbery, disguise with intent, and assault with intent to resist arrest. After a bail hearing, Garcia was released from custody and is set to appear in court in Milton on July 30, 2024.

Seeking Public Assistance

Law enforcement authorities are seeking public assistance in identifying the two remaining suspects. The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” tall, with a slim or medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, a mask, black sweatpants with grey thighs, and black running shoes. The second suspect is a black male, approximately 6’0″ tall, with a slim build. He was dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black sweatpants with white stripes on the thighs, and white or grey running shoes.
