Former Policemen Suspects in Pampanga Couple’s Murder

In a shocking turn of events, two former policemen are now suspects in the case of the brutal murder of Pampanga beauty pageant candidate Geneva Lopez and her Israeli boyfriend Yitshak Cohen. The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP CIDG) revealed that the motive behind the crime was a land dispute.

Land Dispute Leads to Tragic Incident

CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco disclosed that suspects Michael Angelo Guiang and Rommel Abuzo allegedly shot the couple over a disagreement regarding a piece of land. Guiang had mortgaged the land to Lopez and refused to give it back. He claimed that there was also a buyer interested in the property, whom he introduced to Lopez as Abuzo.

According to Francisco, the two former policemen planned the murder in advance. They lured the couple to Barangay Armenia, where they shot them in cold blood. The CIDG chief emphasized that the crime was a premeditated act, with Guiang and Abuzo discussing their plans a day before carrying out the heinous act.

Arrests Made, Investigation Continues

In addition to Guiang and Abuzo, another suspect identified as Jeffrey Santos was also apprehended in connection with the murder. Two other unnamed persons of interest surrendered to the authorities and provided statements to the police. However, two individuals believed to be involved in the crime are still at large.

Former Law Enforcers Dismissed from Service

Guiang and Abuzo were both dismissed from the police force after they went absent without taking leaves. The shocking revelation of their involvement in the murder has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the integrity and ethics of those entrusted with upholding the law.

As the investigation into the case continues, authorities are working tirelessly to ensure that all those responsible for the heinous crime are brought to justice. The tragic loss of Geneva Lopez and Yitshak Cohen serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that lurk in the shadows, even among those sworn to protect and serve.
