The tenants of Manokan Country in Bacolod City have been given a 2-week extension to transfer to a temporary space at the terminal hub of SM City for the construction of the new Manokan Country building. Councilor Vladimir Gonzales, appointed by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, led a dialogue with the tenants, where only 15 out of 24 attended. The deadline to vacate their stalls and move to the temporary space is July 20. The tenants have the option to also do business at Monakan Country East near the Bacolod City Government Center. Tess Mondres, spokesperson for the Manokan Country Vendors Association, mentioned that negotiations with the city government are ongoing. The city has offered the option for tenants to transfer to the terminal hub of SM City or occupy a government lot along Bredco Port. The tenants are also preparing proposals to present to the city government in response to these options.
