Sandiganbayan convicts 17 ex-GOCC, NGO execs over pork barrel scam
The Sandiganbayan has convicted 15 former officials from government-owned corporations and NGOs for misusing P62 million in pork barrel funds. The recent ruling by the Sandiganbayan Third Division has brought to light the conviction of 15 former officials from government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and two officers from non-government organizations (NGOs) on 36 criminal charges related to pork barrel misuse. This development stems from the misappropriation of P62 million from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of former Misamis Occidental Representative Marina Clarete between 2007 and 2009.

The convicted GOCC officials from Nabcor, National Livelihood Development Corp (NLDC), and Technology Resource Center (TRC) were found guilty of their involvement in the scandal. These individuals now face varying sentences ranging from 8 to 126 years for their roles in the misuse of public funds.
Additionally, arrest warrants have been issued for several individuals who are currently at large, including former Rep. Marina Clarete, former TRC director general Antonio Ortiz, and former Nabcor president Alan Javellana, among others. The court is yet to acquire jurisdiction over these defendants as they remain fugitives from justice.
