The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has once again come to the rescue of Filipino consumers by releasing its annual “Gabay sa Pamimili ng School Supplies” price guide. With the new school year just around the corner, this comprehensive guide aims to assist parents and students in making informed decisions when purchasing school supplies.

This year’s price guide features a wider selection of school supplies, with a total of 173 stock keeping units (SKUs) compared to 117 last year. The good news is that over 68 percent of the listed SKUs have maintained the same price as last year, providing price stability for consumers. Only 24 percent of the items saw a price increase, which is relatively low considering the current economic challenges.

To ensure that consumers make informed purchases, the DTI recommends checking school supply labels, manufacturer information, the number of leaves in notebooks/paper, and other relevant details.
