Investigations revealed that the altercation between the man and the woman escalated as they were leaving work. The woman, accompanied by a third person driving a separate vehicle, attempted to prevent the man from leaving the premises by blocking his car. When the man tried to drive away, the woman exited her vehicle and approached his car with a handgun.
In an act of self-defense, the man pulled out his own handgun and fired at the woman, fatally injuring her. Following the shooting, the driver of the third vehicle, later identified as Brittney Reed, allegedly assaulted the man by punching him in the face. The man instructed Reed to stay away from him and waited for law enforcement to arrive at the scene.
Rock Hill Police have stated that the man will not face charges as they have determined that the shooting was justified in self-defense. However, Reed has been charged with assault and battery in connection with the incident. Two firearms were recovered by officers at the scene, but the authorities have not disclosed the identity of the deceased woman.
