According to the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Johnson, the driver of a white Kia Soul was travelling southbound in the 1400 block of Silverdale Street when the accident happened. The driver failed to maintain a single lane and collided with a wooden utility pole on the northbound side of the sidewalk at Cowart Street. The impact caused the vehicle to roll and land on its passenger side, ejecting Reginae from the front passenger window.
Both the driver and another female passenger, aged 8, managed to climb out of the driver’s side window following the crash. However, Reginae was not as fortunate and was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital. The other two females sustained injuries but were later treated and released.
Investigation and Outcome
Police officers at the scene did not observe any signs of intoxication in the driver, but they did note the absence of child seats in the vehicle.
