Two men were arrested in Copperopolis after authorities found stolen mail in their vehicle within the evacuation zone caused by the Aero Fire in Calaveras County. Arrest Made After Stolen Mail Found in Evacuation Zone

In a rural area of Copperopolis, Calaveras County, two brothers from Stockton were arrested after authorities discovered stolen mail in their vehicle within the evacuation zone caused by the Aero Fire.

Deputies were conducting patrols in the evacuation zone near Kive Place and Little John Road when they noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area around 2:45 a.m. The vehicle was stopped, and the two men inside were identified as Joseph and Mark Nobriga.

Joseph, aged 38, had two outstanding felony warrants for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property in San Joaquin County. Mark, aged 31, was found to be on probation in the same county.

Following an investigation, deputies searched the vehicle and discovered stolen mail from homes in Copperopolis, along with methamphetamine and burglary tools. The two men were subsequently taken into custody and booked on new charges, with the incident remaining under investigation.

While Cal Fire lifted all evacuation warnings in Calaveras County, evacuation orders still remain in place for several areas in and around Copperopolis. The sheriff’s office emphasized that disaster areas are under constant patrol, with a zero-tolerance approach towards individuals entering the zones.
