Tragic Drowning Incident at Abandoned Stone Quarry in Dharwad

In a heartbreaking turn of events, two young Class 10 students lost their lives in a tragic drowning accident at an abandoned stone quarry in Dharwad. The incident occurred when Shreyas Navale (16) and Druva Dasar (16) went to the water-filled quarry with a group of friends to click selfies and shoot videos for social media.

Location of the Incident

The abandoned stone quarry, located on Mansur Road in Dharwad, has been a popular spot for youngsters to hang out and engage in recreational activities. However, the area is fraught with dangers due to the deep water and uneven terrain, making it a hazardous location for inexperienced swimmers.

Sequence of Events

According to police sources, the boys had informed their parents that they were going to a friend’s house, but instead, they decided to visit the stone quarry for a photo and video shoot. While Shreyas and Druva were posing inside the water, tragedy struck as they got stuck in a ditch and were unable to extricate themselves.

Upon realizing the gravity of the situation, the other boys in the group rushed to the nearest police station to seek help. Police and fire personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct rescue operations.

Recovery of Bodies
