A woman who pretended to be a “national advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office” has been booked by the police for allegedly swindling a Pune-based businessman of Rs 50 lakh. The victim, Gorakh Maral, filed a complaint against the woman, identified as Kashmira Sandip Pawar, at the Bundgarden police station. The police have also registered a case against her accomplice, Ganesh Gaikwad. Kashmira promised to help Maral win a government tender using her government connections, but she allegedly took the money without delivering on her promise. Maral reported the incident to the Pune city police, and the case is being investigated by Police sub inspector Ravindra Gawade.

The police book a woman for duping a businessman in Pune

A woman who allegedly posed as a “national advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)” has been booked by the police for duping a Pune-based businessman of Rs 50 lakh. Gorakh Maral, 49, who supplies building materials, filed a complaint against the woman identified as Kashmira Sandip Pawar at the Bundgarden police station.

Maral, who had known Pawar for a few years, alleged that she claimed to have connections in the government and promised to help him secure a tender for government work. She even went as far as sharing fake tender documents with Maral over WhatsApp to gain his trust. Between December 2019 and March 2022, Pawar reportedly took Rs 50 lakh from Maral, both in cash and online payments, but failed to deliver on her promise of winning him a government contract.

Accomplice also booked

Along with Pawar, the police have registered a case against her accomplice Ganesh Gaikwad under sections 419, 420, 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Both Pawar and Gaikwad are residents of Satara district, according to the authorities.

Complaint lodged with the police

After failing to recover his money, Maral approached the Pune city police and lodged a complaint. Police sub-inspector Ravindra Gawade of Bundgarden police station is now investigating the case.
