A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Barangay San Agustin, San Miguel, Bulacan, when the lifeless body of a young boy was found in a river on Saturday, June 15. The boy, identified as Rodney de Leon, aged 10, hails from Barangay Tigpalas in San Miguel.

According to reports received by Lt. Col. Jacquiline Puapo, the Bulacan police director, De Leon was last seen swimming in the river of Sitio Apalit, Brgy Tigpalas with two of his friends on June 13 at around 2:00 p.m.

Tragedy struck when the trio found themselves trapped in the deep waters of the river. Despite efforts to save him, De Leon sadly sank and disappeared from sight.

Shockingly, one of De Leon’s companions, out of fear, chose not to immediately inform the victim’s family about the drowning incident. Instead, the news of Rodney going missing spread through social media platforms.

The harrowing discovery was made by residents at approximately 8:13 a.m. on Saturday. A lifeless body was spotted floating in the San Agustin River, caught in a tangled bamboo. It was later confirmed by the boy’s grieving relatives that the body belonged to Rodney de Leon.
