Man Found Dead in Drainage Ditch Identified by FBCSO

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man found dead in a drainage ditch by construction workers last week as Enrique Godinez, 61. His body was discovered on June 11 at around 1 p.m. along FM 361 at Pine Meadow Lane, near Highway 36 between Rosenberg and Needville.

Discovery of the Body

Construction workers alerted Fort Bend County dispatch after finding the body in the drainage ditch. Investigators believe that Godinez was riding a bike and was hit by a vehicle, as bicycle and motor vehicle debris were found near the scene.

Missing Persons Report

Godinez’s family had reported him missing to the Rosenberg Police Department on May 28, stating that he had been missing since May 19. Further investigation revealed that a call was made to FBCSO dispatch on May 24 regarding an accident and a stalled vehicle on FM 361.

Potential Person of Interest

The driver of the stalled vehicle on May 24 is now considered a person of interest in the case. FBCSO believes that Godinez’s body had been in the area since that date. An internal investigation into the initial accident report from May 24 is currently underway.
