A 25-year-old food delivery driver in Detroit, Joseph Edmond Stewart, has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run incident. Stewart faces charges including failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death. The victim, Delia Dinwiddie, 56, was hit by Stewart’s car and pronounced dead at a local hospital. The Incident in Detroit

A 25-year-old food delivery driver from Grand Blanc, Joseph Edmond Stewart, has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Detroit. The charges include failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault- causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing serious impairment or death, and moving violation causing death.

The Tragic Event

On June 8 at 8:58 p.m., Stewart was driving southbound on Linwood Street near Leslie Street in Detroit when he allegedly struck a woman, identified as Delia Dinwiddie, 56, of Detroit, with his car and fled the scene, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Dinwiddie was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

After the incident, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Stewart on June 12 and handed him over to the Detroit Police Department.

Stewart was granted a $100,000 personal bond and is scheduled for a probable cause conference on June 25, followed by a preliminary examination on July 1.
