Virtus.pro, the powerhouse of Eastern European Dota 2, faced a tough challenge in the qualifiers for The International 2024. With only one spot up for grabs in the regional qualifiers, the pressure was on for teams to secure their ticket to the prestigious tournament set to take place in Denmark this September. Unfortunately for Virtus.pro, their journey was cut short as they suffered an early exit in the qualifiers.

Last year, Virtus.pro made a name for themselves at TI12, surprising everyone by reaching the Top 8. Despite entering the tournament as underdogs, they managed to make a strong statement with a roster featuring multiple players at their TI debut. This year, however, things didn’t go as planned for the team. Early eliminations in various events such as BetBoom Dacha Dubai, DreamLeague Season 22, and Elite League dashed their hopes of making it to TI13.

RELATED STORIES

While Virtus.pro’s roster remained relatively unchanged since last year, with only minor adjustments in staff, their performance in the qualifiers fell short. They faced tough competition from teams like 9Pandas, who sent them to the lower bracket rounds right from the start of the TI13 qualifiers. Despite their best efforts, Virtus.pro was unable to secure a spot in this year’s International.

But all is not lost for Virtus.pro. The team is gearing up for the Riyadh Masters 2024, a Dota 2 competition at Esports World Cup. As one of the 30 clubs accepted in the EWC Foundation Club Support Program, the Esports World Cup holds significant importance for the organization. The Club Championship at the end of the event will award a total of $20 million to the top 16 clubs based on their cross-game performance. This presents an opportunity for Virtus.pro to redeem themselves and showcase their skills on a different stage.

As the TI13 Eastern Europe qualifiers continue with six teams battling it out for the one coveted spot, Virtus.pro will shift their focus to the Riyadh Masters. The event, set to commence on the 4th of July in the Saudi Arabian capital, provides the team with a chance to salvage their season and prove their mettle in the competitive scene.
