Two separate incidents of domestic-related shootings in Mississippi on Father’s Day left one man dead and three injured. The first incident took place in Vicksburg, where police responded to a disturbance in the 2500 block of Drummond Street in the early hours of Sunday morning. An unidentified male had shot two females during a domestic dispute. Both females were taken to a medical facility for treatment, and the suspect was apprehended after a brief pursuit by law enforcement.

Officers in Vicksburg responded to a disturbance in the 2500 block of Drummond Street in the early hours of Father’s Day. Upon arrival, they discovered that an unidentified male had shot two females during a domestic dispute. The injured females were transported to a medical facility for treatment, and the suspect was apprehended after a brief pursuit by law enforcement.

Meanwhile, in Adams County, just over 70 miles south of Vicksburg, another domestic-related shooting occurred. Police dispatch received a call from a distressed woman just after midnight, reporting a domestic incident on Carmel Church Road. Randrell Jones, the son of the victims, informed law enforcement that his mother, Tawana Jones, and stepfather, Calvin Carter, were involved in an altercation. Carter allegedly assaulted Tawana before leaving the home with her in his vehicle. Randrell followed the vehicle and reported their whereabouts to the police.

Tragic Incident in Adams County

In Adams County, a tragic incident unfolded on Father’s Day as a domestic dispute turned deadly. Randrell Jones reached out to law enforcement after witnessing his stepfather, Calvin Carter, assault his mother, Tawana Jones, at their home on Carmel Church Road. Carter then took Tawana with him in his vehicle, leading to a fatal shooting on Shieldsboro Road. Carter succumbed to his injuries, while Tawana was treated for multiple injuries and later released from the hospital.

An investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office revealed that Carter had forcibly entered the property where Tawana was staying for the night. After the altercation, he brought Tawana to his vehicle, which ultimately led to the fatal shooting on Shieldsboro Road. Law enforcement are currently investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made at this time.
