As deputies arrived on the scene, they encountered a chaotic situation with the suspect, 19-year-old Christos Alexander Themelis, Jr., and his mother, Rebecca, outside the home.

Deputy Shane McGough, a brave officer with two years of service, found himself in the line of fire as he tried to protect Rebecca from her son’s violent outburst. Despite his efforts, Christos Jr. shot his mother and then turned his gun towards the deputies, leading to a harrowing exchange of gunfire.
