Suspect Faces Multiple Felony Charges
The suspect, identified as Cary Davis, is now facing second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon. These charges are all considered felony offenses under Arizona law.
Details of the Shooting Incident
According to court documents, the shooting took place on Saturday morning at the TA Travel Store. Police responded to the scene and found the victim, later identified as Damarion Thorn, with 17 gunshot wounds on his body.
Witnesses reported that a physical altercation occurred between Davis and another individual at the gas station. Surveillance footage from the store confirmed that the victim had approached Davis and initiated the confrontation by punching him.
As the altercation escalated, Davis allegedly retrieved a firearm from his car and fired multiple shots at the victim. The store employees called 911 as soon as they heard the gunshots, and police arrived at the scene shortly after.
Arrest and Investigation
Following the shooting, Davis reportedly entered the store with the gun in his possession. He informed an employee that he had contacted his family about the incident before leaving the premises. Police arrested Davis at the scene without further incident.
