BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisiana has recently been identified as one of the top 10 states with the most dangerous workplaces in the United States. A study conducted by Duddy, Goodwin & Pollard analyzed data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics spanning from 2020 to 2022 to determine the states with the highest number of workplace fatalities.

Wyoming emerged as the state with the most workplace deaths, recording 16.64 fatal injuries per 100,000 people and a total of 96 fatalities during the specified period. Following closely behind, North Dakota and Alaska secured the second and third spots for the highest workplace fatalities.

Despite its ranking, Louisiana was placed at number 6 on the list. The study revealed that the state experienced a total of 364 deaths with 7.81 fatal injuries occurring at work per 100,000 people.
