The crash involved a 2019 Ford Escape traveling east on State Road 234 towards Wilkinson and a 2004 Chevy Aveo heading north on County Road 50 towards Fortville.
Tragically, the driver of the Chevy, identified only as a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A witness who remained at the scene provided officers with a statement, and authorities have ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash.
